About

Welcome to the official PhotoPrism Blog. This is where the team behind PhotoPrism® writes about what’s new, what’s changing, and how professionals, businesses, the public sector, and individuals get more out of their media library — confidentially, securely, and on infrastructure they control.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Release notes. Short-form summaries of each new build, what changed, what to review before rolling out, and which fixes matter for production deployments.
  • Feature announcements. Longer posts introducing new capabilities, with screenshots, walkthroughs, and notes on how teams and individual users can put them to use.
  • Practical guides. Workflows, tips, and how-tos — from indexing large libraries and planning storage to governing AI-generated labels in regulated environments.
  • Project updates. Roadmap notes and occasional posts on direction, community, and how we work.

Who Writes It

The PhotoPrism Team — building PhotoPrism from Berlin since 2018, with security and quality at the core. The project is developed and maintained by PhotoPrism UG. Posts are collaborative and credited to the team unless a piece has a named byline.

How Often

PhotoPrism releases a new signed version every couple of months, and the blog follows the same cadence — with occasional posts in between when something is worth sharing. Subscribe via RSS, follow us on Mastodon or Bluesky, or track every build in the changelog.

About the Project

PhotoPrism is an on-premises, AI-powered application for browsing, organising, and sharing large media libraries. It runs on anything from a home server to a private cloud or a Kubernetes cluster — your media, your infrastructure, your control.

Professionals, businesses, and the public sector can choose between Starter, Business, and Enterprise tiers of our Pro edition — with advanced features, custom branding, professional services, and dedicated support.

Individuals and families can get started with the open-source Community Edition (AGPL), or upgrade to Essentials or Plus to enjoy additional features — and to help support the project.
